Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What does FBCM stand for?

FBCM is shorthand for Faith Biblical Counseling Ministries.

2.  What are your primary ministries?

We offer counseling services to those in the Lafayette community (although sometimes counselees travel several hours to participate). The vast majority of our ministry is centered on counseling training. We offer 3 training courses each year that run for 11 weeks, the annual Biblical Counseling Training Conference in February, and other conferences as the demand warrants (such as the Nehemiah conference or Starting a Biblical Counseling Ministry).  More information can be found on our current ministries page.

Is FBCM different from NANC?

Yes. It is true that NANC (which stands for the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors) once had their office at our church, it is also true that Bill Goode (former Senior Pastor at Faith Baptist Church – now with the Lord) served as a president of NANC. However, FBCM and NANC have always been separate organizations. Technically speaking, NANC is a certifying organization that does counseling training where FBCM is a counseling and counseling training center which is part of the overall ministry of Faith Baptist Church.

Does NANC accept our Training toward Certification?

NANC accepts our Monday Training Course as part of the process to be NANC certified. For more information on NANC certification, please visit www.nanc.org.

How did FBCM originate?

The counseling ministry at Faith Baptist originated with Pastor Bill Goode and Dr. Bob Smith. It is amazing that some 30 years later Dr. Bob Smith is still actively involved in training the next generation of biblical counselors.
